The Story

They list him at 5-foot-8. Coaches see the number before they see the tape, and some never make it past the number. That has been the whole story, and the whole misunderstanding, because the film does not measure him in inches. It measures him in the space between his hands and a cornerback who was sure he had the angle.

In 2025 that space kept turning into points. Eighty receptions. Twelve hundred and sixty-six yards. Eighteen touchdowns, second in all of Utah’s 5A. He did it from the slot and from outside, on go balls and on crossers, on nights when everyone in the stadium knew where the ball was going and still could not stop it.

Bonneville gave up 175 yards and three scores. Viewmont gave up four touchdowns and a piece of history it would rather forget, the first playoff win West Field had ever owned. The great ones tend to show up when the lights are brightest. He started early.

The tape settles most arguments; the numbers close the case. A 4.57 forty. A 36-inch vertical. A 4.1 shuttle that explains how a defensive back can have perfect position and still lose. He carries a 3.5 GPA. He is a senior now, and the scouting reports still open on that same first line. By the time they finish, it reads less like a limitation than a warning.
